No rate history yet — this chart starts once an account has at least one recorded rate.
How this is computed & what to keep in mind
- Analytical, not actual-credited: these lines don't reconstruct amounts actually credited to the account — click a point for the exact formula.
- Manual tracking dependency: balances and rates are only as accurate and current as your last manual update in this app; gaps or lag in data entry directly skew the computed historical %.
- Sampled monthly: each point is the account data as of month-end (or today, for the current month) — balance history itself is only recorded when a balance actually changes during a save, not a guaranteed daily snapshot, so a month's sample can reflect a stale value if nothing was logged that month.
- Assumed constant where unrecorded: if an account has never had a rate change logged (common for accounts created before rate history existed, or never rate-edited since), its current rate is assumed to have applied since it was opened, rather than showing no data — real historical rate changes before you started logging them aren't captured.
- TD rollovers aren't linked: closing a time deposit and opening its replacement are unconnected records; the old account's contribution simply stops at its closure date and the new one picks up — any delay between closing and logging the new account shows as a dip.
- Benchmark data is a frozen snapshot: fetched once and bundled into the app (see
scripts/benchmarks-data.js) — it won't pick up new months automatically. PH CPI's underlying index only starts in 2010, so its YoY line can't begin until 2011.

About the Growth Comparison
- This is compounded growth, not a rate — most lines start at 100 on the same date and show how they'd have grown since. It answers "which grew more, equities or the cost of living," not "is my rate healthy right now" (that's the Yield Trend chart above).
- The chart's period is set by VWRA, not your accounts — it always spans VWRA's and PH CPI's full available history, never shrinking just because you've only tracked accounts for a short time.
- Savings+TD (simulated) is the one exception — it starts at 100 on YOUR account data's own start date, whatever that is, not on VWRA's 2019 start. So it may appear only partway through the chart, and its "100" isn't the same calendar date as the other lines' "100" — compare its slope and shape, not its absolute height, against the others.
- VWRA only goes back to July 2019 — that's the ETF's actual inception, not a data limitation, so the two VWRA lines and CPI (rebased together) can't start earlier than that.
- This shows where each line ended up, not how bumpy the ride was: equities can swing far more month-to-month than fixed income along the way, even when the ending point looks better — this chart doesn't show that volatility, only the destination.
